2011 Annual Conference Details
The Mississippi Public Health Association will celebrate its 75th Anniversary at the 2011 Annual Conference and Business Meeting at Harrah's Hotel, Tunica, Mississippi on September 28 - 30, 2011. The theme for this year's conference is "Public Health: The Diamond of Healthcare" to celebrate and recognize the contributions of MPHA over the past 75 years.
Highlights for the 2011 conference include keynote speakers Dr. Judith Monroe, Deputy Director of the CDC, Dr. Mary Currier, and Marshall Ramsey. We also plan programs celebrating the 75-year history of MPHA and a special recognition honoring Dr. Ed Thompson. The Executive Board and conference planning committees are hard at work to finalize details to provide both an educational and fun opportunity for our members. Conference registration forms are available online to print, complete and mail and have been distributed to the Department of Health offices. There are several important deadlines including registration without late fees included before September 9, 2011. Also, in an effort to properly plan attendance, MPHA will not accept registrations by mail after September 20, 2011. Limited on-site registration will be available but with significant late fees required. SO MAKE YOUR PLANS TODAY.
In order to attend the conference, you must be a 2011 member AND complete a conference registration form and pay the appropriate registration fee.
Room reservations are $59 per night for single or double occupancy and can be made online or you may call 1-800-394-7263 and use group code S09MPU1.
The cutoff date for reservations is Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Credit card or $50 cash deposit is required at check-in for all guests. If you are sharing a room, please list both individuals and inform hotel of shared room with split bill.

Are continuing education hours available?
Yes, continuing education hours will be available for nurses, nutritionists, and social workers; the number of hours granted changes each year based on speakers, topics, etc., and are currently under review. More information will be available closer to Conference.

Membership and reimbursement: MSDH employees must be a member in good standing of the Association to attend and receive reimbursement. The Membership application and information is available on the website at www.mspha.org. As a reminder, you must complete two separate forms to attend: 1) MPHA 2011 Membership application and 2) 2011 Annual Conference Registration form.
