Executive Board

The Executive Board is the governing body of the Association and includes the elected officers of the Association and the Section Chairpersons. Elected officers are the President, President-Elect, Past President, Treasurer, Secretary, Member-at-Large, and APHA Delegate. Officers are elected by a secret ballot during the Annual Conference each year for staggered terms. Officer's terms are in line with membership terms, which means newly elected officers begin their terms January 1 of each year. Currently, the established Sections are Office Professional, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Health Administration, Medical Care/NP, Nutrition, Nursing, and Social Work.

MPHA Mission

MPHA's Mission is to promote public and personal health in the State of Mississippi and to promote professional development of public health workers through advocacy and education activities.

MPHA Objectives

As objectives in support of its mission, MPHA shall:

Exercise leadership with health professionals and the general public in health policy development and action;
Provide annual educational sessions on topics and issues pertinent to public health;
Enhance the prestige of public health work as a career; and
Initiate, advocate and support needed action that will promote and/or improve the health of the people of Mississippi.
