Dr. Atehortua is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Behavioral and Environmental Health at the School of Public Health, Jackson State University. Dr. A currently serves as the Chairman of the Mississippi State Advisory Council for Tobacco Control and as a counselor of the Mississippi State Advisory Council for Mental Health and Addiction. Additionally, he is a Consultant and External Evaluator for the Youth Tobacco and Vaping Prevention Program (YTVPP) of the Mississippi State Department of Health.
His areas of research interest are around tobacco control, population inequalities in chronic diseases and cancer; and genomics applied to public health. Dr. A has been a presenter and a guest speaker in several national and international professional conferences and forums.
