One of the most important pieces of MPHA’s work is its advocacy efforts on behalf of Mississippi public health professionals. We provide an objective, outside voice to advocate not only for public health’s interests but also for Mississippians’ health interests. From calling for adequate funding of public health to advocating for policies that improve the health of Mississippians, MPHA is the voice of and for public health in Mississippi.

MPHA 2024 Legislative Agenda
Each year, MPHA presents a proposed legislative agenda to members at the fall business meeting. With feedback from the members, the MPHA Board of Directors approves a final agenda. Throughout the legislative session, the MPHA Legislative and Policy Committee tracks and monitors legislation of interest to MPHA members. The MPHA Legislative and Policy Committee is chaired by MPHA’s Affiliate Representative to the APHA Governing Council (ARGC).
