MPHA is working with communities, organizations, policy makers, elected officials, and others to advocate for changes that will increase inclusion, access, and the welcoming of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in all places in Mississippi that impact health. We are working with partners to create a plan for Mississippi that clearly makes working with the IDD population a part of the bigger picture of public health in our state.
Mississippi Systems Change for Inclusive Health Work Plan
The Mississippi Public Health Association (MPHA), in partnership with Special Olympics, Inc., launched the Systems Change in Inclusive Health initiative to address longstanding disparities affecting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This initiative seeks to transform systems of care across Mississippi to ensure that individuals with IDD experience equitable access, respectful treatment, and coordinated services.
